Why Has Our Rating Dropped?

Hi,

You reviewed our site (sachikomclean.com) back in February and gave it 7.5 (even though you rated it 8 in all categories except one - which was 7.5 - so the averge was actually closer to 8).

Now for some unknown reason you've dropped our rating in all categories to 7, and our overall rating to 6.5! This is in spite of the fact that we have almost twice as many photos now as when you reviewed our site, and more than twice as many videos.

What's going on? There doesn't seem to be any reason for the drop in our rating, and even then a rating of 7 in all categories doesn't equal 6.5! Something is seriously wrong here.

I am sorry if you are disappointed, but at least you can't blame us for not trying to inform everyone of the reason behind it.

On the frontpage there is still a month after the update, a paragraph about it and furthermore in one of the other forums, there is a thread (which I have now made sticky). Regarding the AR (overall score) it is as described in our explanation of scores, NOT an average but a combination of the average together with the reviewer's overall impression of the site.

Thanks for the response. I know you said to respond in the other forum, but as what I am about to say relates specifically to our review, I think it is more appropriate to keep it here.

Dropping the scores is fine in principle, but the way it's been done seems to be somewhat arbitrary. For example, I don't think any one's suddenly set new standards in navigation, so to drop this score seems odd. I don't think other adult sites have suddenly become faster either (quite the opposite in fact), so I don't see why this score should drop either. Indeed, Alexa rates our site as "fast", which is almost unprecedented for an adult site in my experience (although admitedly their ratings aren't perfect).

Even more to the point, our content vs. promised should be close to 10, as we are the ONLY adult site in the net who allows visitors to see every thumbnail of every photo in our members' galleries before signing up. We also have an EXACT figure for the number of photos and photo sets in our members' section publicly visible before people join. What other site is as open and honest about the content of their members' section as us? This makes the overall score seem, at least superficially, even more out of line.

P.S. Please understand that I really do appreciate you taking the time to review our site, but as I said, the way our scores have been reduced just seems too arbitrary. I see your points and agree with you that the whole scoring system might not be perfect at the moment.

What is the intention however, is that you should be able to compare all sites that we have reviewed not matter when they were reviewed. I still think that is possible though.

The idea behind lowering the scores, was to get ratings similar to e.g. IMDB's where a good movie scores e.g. 6 and a really good movie scores 7 while very few movies score more than that. It has to be something out of the ordinary to get a higher score than that. I think we are much closer to that goal now.

What I am willing to do however is to evaluate the scores for your site once more and if I agree that it might be fair to raise a score by a half or one star, I will do that.

Your suggestion sounds perfectly fair and reasonable to me.

Once again, I realise these things can never be perfect - and reviews will always be somehow subjective - but I think the points I raised are relatively objective measures (navigation, speed, honesty about the content of our members' section etc.). Indeed, in terms of honesty I think our site truly IS exceptional - I don't know of any other adult site who can match us in this regard.

Let me know if you need me to issue you with a password (and if so how to do it), and once again thanks for taking the time to review our site and follow up on my feedback.
