Jeppe,as you know I hate and also receive an aweful lot of spam. Now a funny thing has happened over the past few days. My spam mail in Outlook has dropped from about 50-80 a day to about 5 or 6 and I don`t know why,I have done absolutely nothing at all.

I was worried about a bug on computer so I didn`t log in until later on at night and used my clean as a whistle lap-top--low and behold I had only 4 spam mail awaiting me from Outlook.

Next day I logged in later on on main pc and only 3 spam in Outlook.

Today only 4 spam via my lap-top, 1 just now on pc.

Do you have any idea as to what may have caused this dramatic drop when nothing has been touched on both my computers. I never ever open spam so do you think it possible they have just been sickened off and died somewhere of frustration-lol

I am happy for you :)

Unfortunately this is most likely not due to spammers suddenly realising that they are scum, but probably due to some change in your ISP's system like a new spamfilter or something like that.

Spammers are still spamming away in this forum - lukily my efforts with the spamfilter seems to work since less and less spam gets through.

Thanks for that Jeppe--but I fear the problem may be worse than I first thought. I listed some gear on Ebay and you are normally sent a listing comfirmation to your mail--none has arrived. I also went to 3 of my other mail boxes including the very reliable handbag.com and sent myself mail--worryingly none has turned up--oh my gawd what has happened I fear I am doomed to receive no mail at all--its only happening in Outlook---Houston,we have a problem!!

Hmm that is strange. Have you tried checking the email on the website directly (if the email services are web-based) and checked for system status messages?

Jeppe,I got that sorted out today--thanks anyway----What happened was I noticed on one of the returned mails to myself that said I had exceeded storage??? I had hardly any in inbox so this puzzled me,also I do not leave copy of mail on server. I phoned Orange and lady said log into my Outlook via the Orange website, which I did not know was possible, thought I could only do that via Outlook. Anyway I almost fell of my swivel chair!! there were 1000 one thousand e-mails waiting there. Jeez I cannot fathom out that at all. They started like now date and went back to January this year. So I just deleted them all,now all is fine. I got my usual share today of spam,so back to norm. I then checked straight onto my Outlook mail via Orange and there were 9 e-mails waiting in that box. I am totally confused as to how they are getting split up like this. At least now I know I will have to double check main mail now--pain in the ass but still. Cheers

Glad you got it sorted out. I don't really know much about those web-based email services since I've always used pop3 email accounts, but I have a gmail account (they have over 1 gb of storage space) and that seems to work well. So if you can - get one of those!
