First impression

I have to say Homegrown Video seems quite impressive on its tour. I see that it's been around since 1982 (on videos) and has received 11 AVN awards. That's no small feat, especially with the prevalance of porn sites out there. It's even been mentioned in such main stream media as Newsweek and US News. Whoa! I'd definitely say this is a site worth checking out! Let's hope it lives up to its hype.

Our opinion

Once inside, you'll find that Homegrown Video has a straightforward menu system. You have Home, Videos, Photos, Erotic Stories (over 800), Community (members' forum), Live Cams, and Support along the top. Below that are thumbnails to the latest 3 updates and their description. Smaller thumbnails are below, with even more updates. I can see from this that often there is more than one update per day. Along the side are thumbnails to what's coming soon as well as a live video chat feature. From the looks of it, if you want a private show, you'll have to pay.

"Videos" takes you to over 1500 videos laid out in thumbnails where you choose between three sizes. You can also browse by category, which includes around 50 different niches. Conveniently, there are various options of viewing the videos. You can stream in Flash Player, or Windows in High, Medium, and Low. You can also download in Windows Media in High, Medium, and Low in the episode's entirety or in 5 minute clips. The newer movies open to a 720x480 (2.14 Mbps) sized screen and are very good quality. The quality is better than many so-called studio productions, which is certainly a plus. Even the close ups, of which there are plenty, don't get blurry. (The older movies play in a smaller screen and the quality isn't as good, but it's not terrible. I just chalk that up to it being amateur). The videos I watched were around 20 minutes in length.

Under the "Videos" menu option, there's a secondary menu of Recent Updates, Coming Soon (the next 30 videos), Classic Videos (over 2000), and Submit Videos.

"Photos" contains around 750 photo galleries, laid out in the same thumbnail size you can pick as you did for videos. These aren't updated nearly as often as the videos, but I don't see that as a negative. After all, this site is called Homegrown Video, so the emphasis is on videos. The photo galleries are a nice bonus. At the time of this review, the last photo gallery was uploaded about 7 months ago. The photos open to 750x562 pixels and are okay in quality. They're certainly not what I would call "High Res" as promised. Many of them in fact seemed to be screen shots. There's a slide show option available, but no zip download option. The amount of photos varies widely in each gallery. I saw some with around 80 photos, while others had around 400. I'd say the average is around 100.

As I alluded to above, there's a wide variety of offerings in Homegrown Video. I watched three very different videos, and they were all good. Each of the videos starts out with a short chit chat with the woman/people involved. Many of the women have more than just a pretty face and body; they also have personality plus! Also, there are plenty of hardcore closeups that don't get blurry. I watched a cute little blonde who loves to suck cock. She shows us her deepthroating skills in various acrobatic positions. Her personality is just as good as her many talents, and you'll find yourself wanting to see more of her. Another video I watched was a busty brunette masturbating with a couple different toys on a bean bag chair. The closeups of her pussy were amazing; they clearly showed just how very excited she was. Conclusion

I really like Homegrown Video. It's updated every day with very good quality videos of all authentic amateurs. From what I could gather in some of the interviews before the porn action started, these amateurs are usually found by advertising for porn models in the local papers. Because of this, all the women here you've likely not seen anywhere else. Plus, they really want to get freaky for the camera. Every single woman I saw in photo galleries or videos seemed to be enjoying herself and wanting you, the viewer, to have a real good time. I'm sure you'll have a real good time with a membership to Homegrown Video.
