Immediately upon entering Rodox I was hit, like a sledge hammer, with an overwhelming wave of nostalgia. The images on the tour are evoking memories of my bygone youth. A time when it was perfectly acceptable, even encouraged, for a girl to sport a nice, thick bush between her legs.
Rodox is a Danish porn magazine that has been around since the early 1970s. So, as you'd expect, you're going to be treated to porn of the more 'vintage' variety. Since most of this material comes from their magazines, I'm guessing most of the material here will be pictures. Although, the tour does boast of 'erotic cinema', where 'Young girls do everything you can imagine,'. Looks like there might be some nice video action to boot.
The design of the members area lends itself well to those who, in the past, may have had difficulties finding your way around the 'bulkier' sites out there. It's far from complex. In fact, as far as navigation goes, it's about as bare-bone as it gets. You're greeted with a healthy variety of niches to choose from: Anal Sex, Bizar Sex, Blue Climax, Color Climax, Lesbian Love, Golden Oldie, Rodox, School Girls, Teenage Sex, Extra Serie.
Each category contains an average of 100 galleries (notice the white arrows at the top to go to next page) and there's about 1000 in total. The amount of photos per gallery varies quite a bit, but a good average would be around 25. The images themselves are all in the JPEG format, with dimensions of 644x800 pixels. They're scanned, directly from the magazine, and actually look surprisingly clear and crisp. Not the largest pics ever, but adequate. On the bright side, you won't have to do much scrolling to see the full image.
I spent a great deal of time browsing each category. Overall, I was very pleased. There's plenty of nasty action going on here. I've seen everything from lesbians to hardcore anal, group sex and plenty of exquisite facial shots. Scenery and scenarios vary, but two things usually stay constant: fat bushes and dated clothing. That only adds to the turn on, for me. And that's what we're here for, right?
The two standout categories, in my opinion, are 'School Girls' and 'Teenage Sex'. Out of all the categories, my only true let down came from the 'Bizar Sex' section. I must admit, this one piqued my interest immediately. The name alone being enough to garner my attention.
My thoughts raced with images of a lost treasure trove from the golden age of kink. What I found certainly wasn't bad; It certainly wasn't bizarre, either. Don't get me wrong... these galleries are no slouch. Some of the images were down-right hot. But when you slap on a title like 'bizar', they seem down-right mundane.
It's only natural, however. To be fair, at the time this magazine came out, two black men railing a white girl on a billiards table was probably considered pretty damn taboo. Hell, it still is today in some circles! So, I'll just chalk it up to a somewhat dated definition of 'bizarre', and leave it at that.
Whilst the photo sets seem to be the main focus of the site, there's also a nice video selection to choose from. You get two bonus sites: Teen Cinema and Retro Cinema. Both sites have similar setups. A row of niche categories to choose from. The only notable difference: Retro Raw has the advantage of browsing strictly by cover; Teen Cinema has the advantage of a search engine.
It looks like all the videos, on both sites, are in the WMV format. Some can be downloaded in their entirety (more on the Retro Cinema) and some, only in a series of clips. I've seen no options for streaming the videos. You also get two options on quality: Low(Resolution - 320x240, Bitrate 351 kbps) and High 619 kbps. Clip length varies. Some of the older videos tend to be a bit more grainy but are still very watchable. Clip duration is anywhere from 10 minutes, to a half an hour.
I enjoyed both of these sites. Over 100 videos between them, I consider that a nice bonus. I particularly enjoyed "Retro Cinema." If you're a fan of John Holmes, you'll be pleased to find he's in quite a few of these. The 'Teen Cinema' was awesome, and had some memorable vids, but was a bit more contemporary.
'Retro' Cinema is the perfect bonus, feeling right at home, as it shares the site's theme. I also enjoy how the older movies never neglect story lines and dialogue. Even if the acting is iffy (hey, it's porn, not "Gone with the Wind!") it can still be hot. Sex wise, the action varies from vid to vid (as you'd expect with this many titles) but, in any event, I doubt you'll be disappointed.
You also get the dubious bonus of gaining access, albeit limited, to a live cam feed site called 'Top Cams'. You can watch the girls strip a little (and then some, if you're lucky) but anything more will cost you.
Rodox provides an interesting glimpse into over 40 years of Danish pornography. They update often and, though they specialize in photos, have a hefty selection of bonus videos to choose from. Definitely should appeal to fans of the classics, erotic photography, or even those who just feel like reminiscing a bit. It's always fun to look at past eras of porn. Any vintage porn lover should find it tempting. Hell, it should even appeal to those into 'barely legal' and 'teen' niches. The site's only downfall, albeit somewhat major, is the price of admission. It's a bit high, in my opinion, and will surely deter quite a few potential, future members.
