The intro page and tour look very clean and professional- no ads, no nonsense, no flashiness. Just some good old fashioned naked girls. No complaints here! According to the tour, they seem to focus on amateur oral content. Once again, no complaints.
The simple layout continues into the members area. Very understated (that's good) opening page has all the site links on the navigation bar on top, plus an extra link each for the latest update, the latest "friends" feature, and the store. My guess is that some news could be swapped in for any one of these little windows if need be. Very simple and nice-looking front page here, and I'll go straight to the "girls" page to see what's cooking.
Well, as expected, this is a page with all of the models on Amateur Allure. Each girl has a little picture and bio to go with it. Only 6 models per page means 14 pages of models... they probably could have had a few more models listed on each page. But who am I to complain about such a large number of models?!
I like how the header of the page randomly chooses a girl to have a collage of on top of the page- that's not something you see every day. It makes the site feel more professional and dynamic. Clicking on a model brings you to everything she's done on the site.
Image sets are listed on the sides, with video sets in the middle. Again, a very clean and efficient way to view the model's work. I do have a little problem with them calling 15 pictures a "set" when each seperate set was obviously part of the same photoshoot. It's a little misleading, but I guess it keeps things organized the way they want it. For instance, the first 3 "sets" may just be the model getting out of her clothes. To me, that's just 3 different pages of the same set, but maybe it's semantics I'm getting into. Clicking on a set thumbnail opens up the gallery of 15 images (that seems to be a standard number for them). The images are not at all what I would call high resolution: 650x430 size, taken by a semi-professional digital camera is what it looks like to me. I immediately notice some soft focus shots, but the lighting is, if not professional, than at least more than adequate.
The set is always a bedroom and you can sometimes see the video or photo equipment in the background. Not exactly top class, but it gets the job done (pun intended). As the tour states, nearly all of the photo sets are of oral action, usually third person perspective (some near-first person, though) and almost always ending with a cumshot in the mouth and the girl opening wide for the camera. The girls are all pretty cute, but pretty obviously amateurs. There's no one of porn star quality here I'd say, but certainly better than you're likely to see in your bed any time soon. They're mostly young white girls with pretty variable builds and hair color. A little more ethnic variety would be nice, but there's at least a little, which is more than can be said for a lot of amateur sites.
The videos are very similar in content to the pictures but are not simply moving versions of the picture series, thankfully. The videos are available in high res and low res Quicktime versions. The older videos are of lower quality than the newer ones, with the low res coming in at 250x140 resolution and a 15 fps framerate and the older hi res videos are 360x180 with the same 15fps framerate and, from what I can tell, the same compression. However, the newer updates are of much better quality The newer hi res vids are about 60MB a piece and come in at a resolution of 532x299 and run at 24fps. These newer hi res videos look great- seriously top notch stuff. The low res videos look damn good as well, at about 40MB for an 8 minute clip and running at a resolution of 400x225 with the same 24fps framerate. Either of these will look great at their intended size, but if you're a full screen guy, take the extra time to download the hi res and you will NOT be disappointed.
One tiny problem I have about the videos is that they're shot in fake widescreen which, if you know anything about consumer video cameras (and this is clearly a consumer camera with a basic onboard mic), means that the pixels that would be calculated into the full frame resolution are missing here, resulting in a lower overall resolution on the tape. That's the geek in me nitpicking, of course, but it's something I think one should consider when developing streaming content. It would also be nice to have some of the older videos redigitized from the tapes at this higher resolution. In fact, I started with the oldest videos and thought they were all of that lower quality and was extremely disappointed. One big problem I have with the videos is that it would be nice if the guy in the videos (it's a one man operation) picked a set other than his room/office (you can see his computer with his editing software open on screen occasionally). It comes off as a bit unprofessional, but I suppose that might be part of his style. In general, I'd say stick to the newer updates if you're looking for better resolutions. To be fair, in the news section, he (his name is Thomas) asks for feedback, which I think is a great feature for any smaller site like this. It shows he's open to mixing things up a bit if he gets enough requests.
The "Friends" section is a little disappointing- just a couple vids from Athens Girls, which is a piss porn site that happens to do videos and pictures in an extremely similar style to Amateur Allure's. I guess he and Thomas went to the same school of cinema. Unfortunately, that's about it for this site. There's a soon-to-be store where you can buy DVDs of your favorite vids from the site, but no other third party stuff to be found.
Amateur Allure has a solid (albeit overdone) concept of a regular guy getting blowjobs for the camera. A little variation in content (or at least location) would go a long way with me or anyone else who gets bored with watching one type of content.
That being said, the addition of some third party content would be a big boost to this site, since the site itself offers little in the way of variety in its exclusives. The quality has obviously improved since the beginning of the site and I think that says a lot about the amount of work this person is willing to do on his site. To command the premium price he's asking, however, I think there's still some work to be done.
